I’ve got a lot of D-Fins from a lot of different shapers. This one really stands out. It’s a huge fin with loads of surface area and lots of drive! It’s so well made and really heavy. The craftsmanship is perfect. It also has overhang at the back so when pushed all the way back in your fin box, you can get it closer to the tail than a d-fin that’s more upright.
I'd always to try a D-fin.
First thing: i liked the way the way the fin is setback, allowing you to place it way back, like it is on glassed on D-fins.
The fin will slow you down as you take-off until you are locked in the foam. Then the speed of the board matches the speed of the wave. It allows to walk to the nose, and hold your maneuver, steady, or take advantage of the hollow of the wave.
On the nose, it allows great positioning on the height of the wave
It has lots of stability.
I am usually not able to noseride when i go too fast. There, i would just keep on to the nose, confidently.
I thought the board might get stiff, because of the wide fin, so setback, but it still turns nicely.
I would recommend using it on heavy boards (14-15kg), which is pretty coherent with the boards for which D-fins were were designed.
To me it is a great fin!
